In this episode, we learn about cognitive diffusion (aka diffusion) which is the "ability to separate from your thoughts and to let them come and go, instead of getting caught up in them, or allowing them to dictate what you do." This is a core component of mindfulness and allows us to create space between ourselves as individuals and our thoughts.
The goal of this episode and of the 10 minute guided meditation (and mindfulness in general) is to develop the ability to let go of problematic thoughts through practicing cognitive diffusion. Use this meditation not only in times of distress, but also as a skill building exercise to strengthen your mindfulness muscle.
